Abu Media are currently in production with a one-off documentary on the story of Donegal’s famous Crolly Dolls. Once a thriving business in west Donegal, the Crolly Doll was one of the most sought after Christmas presents for many young Irish girls in the 50’s and 60’s. Thousands of children waited with baited breath to see if Santa had been able to find one for them on Christmas morning, and Santa being Santa he usually delivered.
And with the Crolly Doll fame spreading worldwide many dolls also found homes overseas, especially in America where these unique Irish dolls were much loved. We are now looking to hear individual stories about your relationship with Crolly Dolls. Did you ever own one? Did your friend have one and you loved going around to her house to play with it after school? Or maybe you worked in the factory for a while – a Crolly Dollie as many were called! Do you still have a doll or a collection of them stored away in an attic or old box somewhere in your house?
If so we’d love to hear from you, and get a chance to hear your particular story.
